Description
Belgium Yataghan de la Carabine Mle 1868.bayonet (Type 2). For the Model 1868 Albini Rifle, 1848/66 Terssen Rifle and the Model 1870 Comblain Carbine. This bayonet is a direct copy of the French 1866 Chassepot but has no french markings. Serial number stamped to the left side of the crossguard is “12246” Serial number to all metal black painted scabbard “23280”. Measurements are OA 700mm Blade 575mm and blade width 30mm. Leaf spring secured by a rivet. “BELGIUM” stamped to pommel indicating export to the USA at some stage. Very good condition but with pitting to the crossguard. (Reference K #991)
