Description
Argentina Model 1879 Sword bayonet for the Remington Rolling Block rifle. This sword bayonet is very scarce because most were converted to the short knife bayonet for the Model 1891 Mauser carbine. The single edged blade is straight and fullered. The ricasso is marked “W.R. Kirschbaum” in an arch over “SOLIGEN”. The reverse side of the ricasso is correctly marked “RA” in a circle. The scabbard is all steel with an oval frog stud. The small screw to the locket is missing and has small areas of pitting. Bayonet and scabbard are in good condition with no damage but showing aged patina and some staining. (Reference Mad #499 and BRA No4)
