Australian lightened British P1859 1st Pattern Cutlass bayonet used at Port Arthur penal colony in Tasmania.
824mm OA, Blade 684mm, reeded wooden grips secured with three rivets, leaf spring to pommel, finial to top of muzzle ring, separate flat curled quillion, sabre type unfullered blade with a faint makers logo of knight’s head (Kirshbaum Weyersberg) to ricasso with Soligen inspection marks. Serial Number 39 to pommel and 183 to pommel end. Bayonet in good condition with small areas of pepper pitting and minor staining. Scabbard is black leather with steel locket and chape. Locket has minor pitting overall a very good scabbard (Reference: BCB A6)
