Description
British pattern 1840 Constabulary Carbine bayonet with Lovell’s Lug with spring catch to secure the bayonet in the scabbard. Spring is complete and works well with scabbard, fitting perfectly. Only visible marking is the number 25 to the socket elbow.
The scabbard is the correct early model and is in excellent condition with a small partial crack to the locket face which is not detrimental. Below the frog stud is the broad arrow over WD stamp. It would appear that all the brass fittings have been coated in shellac many years ago giving it the dark appearance.(Reference WW 722 and BCB B138).
