Description
Sappers & Miners sword bayonet with square style guard. Whilst originally reported as probably British made, it actually is. The maker is S. HILL & Son with “S. HILL” stamped to the top odf the balde which makes manufacturing between 1830 and 1849.
Measurements are:
Socket: 4.4in. 111mm with S-M 3.0in 75mmAll Products
MRD 23.6mm or 22.6mm depending on which end is measured.
OA Length 29.7in 754mm
Blade Length 23.87in 605mm.
This bayonet is from the Robert Richardson collection (originally ex John Watts Collection in UK). No scabbard.
