Description
AUSTRALIAN L1A2 (FAL – SLR) BAYONET made at Lithgow. This bayonet is one of the later production runs. The bayonet has a gloss black (others of this type have also been noted with a matt black finish) finish with a plain shortened blade and shortened false edge/ clip point. The blade which is 195mm in length.has only a false edge/ clip point of 52mm. As with production of the L1A2 bayonets there is no markings to the bayonet.
In this example there is significant machining marks to the pommel and blade. This bayonet has not been buffed and/or polished. The scabbard is the No.5 MkII (mouthpiece with rim) with gloss black finish. (Reference is BCB A32 and pages 291 and 292).
