Description
Austrian Model 1873 bayonet manufactured after 1881 as has wood grips secured by two flush ground rivets. This bayonet is for the Mannlicher Infanterie-Gewehr M1886 rifle. The scabbard is black painted all steel. The Austrian marking “OE over WG” (Osterreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft, Steyr) is to the ricasso along with the stamping of the Imperial Austrian eagle and serial number 2537 to the left side of the crossguard which is secured by two rivets. There are some areas of pitting to the quillon of the crossguard and pommel otherwise the blade and scabbard are in excellent condition. (Reference WW 28, JN 7-3 and K # 382)
