Description
Belgium M1889 Mauser bayonet usually has the reverse blade (see WW 90). This model whilst made for the infantry is quite scarce with the blade being mid sized at 300mm rather than the short blade of 250mm and as described in Watts & White believed to be made for the Civil Guard. Ricasso has a Belgium inspection mark of a “V D?” under a crown. There is a “C” inside a box stamped to the crossguard and an “L” inside a box (Liege District) on the release stud. Serial number 6142 to crossguard. Bayonet and scabbard in excellent condition (Reference WW 91 and text page 26)
