Description
BRITISH BAYONET NO. 9 MK1/L manufactured by the Pakistan Ordnnce Factory WAU near Islamabad in 1957 with blued/blackened finish overall. POFÂ 57 is stamped to side of socket along with several single letters and arrow acceptance marks. Whilst these bayonets were used by Pakistan they were also extensively used in India even though India did not produce the weapon. This piece could be an Indian captured bayonet due to the renumbering as seen to the socket. In later years the POF exported 150,000+ rifles/bayonets to Canada under a lend lease agreement. The bayonet and scabbard show some wear but no damage.
Scabbard is No.5 Mk 2 blackened finish
(Reference BCB M17, page 383 and Priest page 274 and 275).
