Description
British Pattern 1853 socket bayonet, Australian issued to the Victorian Volunteers.
Unknown manufacturer but in erxcellent condition without rust or pitting. Bayonet is marked F901 over VV and fits the my D series P1853 rifle with ease.
Socket is 3.0in. (76.8mm) SM is 1.18in. (29.8MM) MR 0.80in. (20.0mm) Blade 17 1/8in. (434mm) OA 20.5in. (517mm)
Scabbard is Pattern 1853 LATE TYPE, POST 1866, black leather with brass locket and chape. Sitching is excellent and leather marked with broad arrows and WD. “44” stamped on frog stud.
All in excellent condition.
