Description
British Pattern 1855 Lancaster sword bayonet for Sappers & Miners carbine. This bayonet was produced prior to 1858 as the short spring is secured by a rivet (Scarce). Numbers engraved to the side of the pommel are similar to those shown in BCB on page 121. To the other side is a very small stamped “18” and to the pommel end “1281”. Bayonet is in good condition for age with knurled leather grips and blade showing some wear. No scabbard. This bayonet is ex John Watts Collection. (Reference WW 748 and BCB B160)
