This British Pattern 1876 socket bayonet has the MkII scabbard. The blade ricasso has the partial number 45 together with the ordnance marking of the broad arrow over WD and an Enfield inspection stamp. There is also the large letter “M”. On one under side of the blade there is a date /89, which indicates the bayonet was either refurbished/repaired in 1889. The bayonet is in very good condition with out of sale stamp to the top of the socket
Scabbard is in good condition but stitching seam is open. Ordnance marking of the broad arrow over WD to both locket and chape. There is the letters “M” and “W” to the leather on one side and the out of sale mark, date stamp (similar to above) and inspection mark to the other side. These markings are just readable and difficult to photograph (Reference BCB B187 and WW 784).
