Description

British Pattern 1887 sword bayonet Mk III for the Martin Henry rifle manufactured at Wilkinson Sword Company, London in 1889. Numerous Wilkinson inspection marks together with the War Department acceptance mark of ^/WD. Serial number 81 to pommel. This bayonet has the unfullered blade and is in above average condition but does show some slight hummering marks to the pommel end. Grips are in excellent condition and secured by two rivets.

Scabbard in in good condition with leather still soft and has faint Enfield inspection mark together the sold out of service mark. Locket and chape retain most of the very old black paint. (Reference BCB B207, JN 54/2 and WW 794),
