Description
British Pattern 1903 sword bayonet manufactured by Wilkinson Sword Company, London. Manufactured/issued October 1906 (10 ’06). Ricasso has Wilkinson, London , British crown, Indian inspection mark and 1903 overstamp on one side and Wilkinson inspection mark, broad arror, bend test mark and Indian inspection mark on the other. Wood grips are secured by screw bolts and with well fitting grip that do not suggest a P1888 conversion also confirmed by the fact there is no manufacturing batch numbers stamped to the tang underside. Pommel has possibly a regimental stamp ” A.C.P. over 182″
Blade length 300mm and overall 420mm.
Pattern 1903 scabbard has Enfield/Birmingham proof mark, acceptance mark and an issue date of 1904 “04” stamped in the leather. Rear of the scabbard belt/frog is stamped “8.05 over G26 over 12/AIR” indicating G Company 12th Battalion Australian Infantary Regiment of Tasmania. Both bayonet and scabbard are in very good condition.
