Description
This CANADIAN ROSS BAYONET Mark II has the modified blade and was manufactured by the Ross Rifle Co. You will note that this bayonet is unusual in that Canadian proofs and dates of issue are not evident on the pommel (These could have removed in a refurbishment process). The pommel does have the unit markings of MSP over 194 and there are the numerals 324 on the crossguard. Production is pre 1915 as the pommel is pinned. Correct Canadian proof/inspectors marks to the back of the tang.
The scabbard is a light brown leather Mark II (wider belt loop) manufactured by the Ross Rifle Co. (RRC) dated 1916 complete with integral frog. The rear of the frog shows the numerals 672 over 7 or 17. (Reference WW 110 and BCB C7)
