Description
Chilean Model 1885 bayonet (Scarce). Originally a French M1874 Gras bayonet modified by Chile to fit the Kropatschek rifle. Conversion was by way of machining down the brass pommel and fitting a new crossguard with flush ground rivets. Bayonet originally made by Waffenfabrik Steyr in 1880 as engraved to the top of of the “T” shaped blade. The letter “C” in a cartouche to the side of the blade. Re-serial numbered “114” to the crossguard. Bayonet and original Gras scabbard in very good condition with no damage or pitting. (Reference JN 28 – 1 and K Vol IV #947)
