Description
New Zealand Snider Sawback Bayonet 1st Type. Manufactured by Kirshbaum in Soligen (Knight’s head to ricasso) c1874. Has the Birmingham inspection marks and War Dept mark. Bayonet grip/ pommel and crossguard have been cleaned due to pitting. Blade is in good condition with small black areas. Scabbard is missing the frog stud and leather finish is crazing but complete. Serial number to crossguard 2235. This is a scarce bayonet but priced down to sell. (Reference BCB N1 page 357)
