Description

British Volunteer Elcho sword bayonet c1873 were either made for the Martini-Henry rifle or simply as a sidearm. This bayonet is one of the commercial manufacturers in Wilkinson Sword Company, Pall Mall, London. The bayonet sheaths into the scabbard in the reverse diection with the muzzle ring facing forward.
The bayonet depicts the Wilkinson inspection mark “Crown over W” on one side of the ricasso along with “WILKINSON over PALL MALL”  on the other.

There are no other markings to the bayonet. Whilst the bayonet does have a few small patches of pitting spots to the blade it is very good condition and no damage.

The blade measures 502mm, overall length 638mm and sawback 230mm. MRD is 19.2mm.

The scabbard is the approved pattern and is missing the chape. The black leather is quite stiff, however, the bayonets fits easily into it.
