Description
Australian issued British Lightened Pattern 1859 Naval Cutlass 2nd type bayonet originally manufactured by KIRSHBARM & BREMSHEY in Solingen-Ohligs, Porcheider Muhle, Germany (see partial Knight’s logo to ricasso). .Blade is very good with small patches of pitting. Under the logo on the ricasso is a Birmingham inspectors mark “Crown over BR over 10”. Soligen inspection mark to the other side of the ricasso “Crown/S/3”. Siilar inspection mark to the rear of the scabbard leather “Crown/S/13. Serial Number “21” stamped to pommel end and “165” to pommel side. Correct very good leather scabbard with steel locket and chape. Whilst leather has hardened it is in its original shape and without any creases. All steel fittings with patina. Muzzle ring is 21mm, blade measures 26.95in 685mm and overall measurement is 32.0in 814mm (Reference: BCB A6).
