Belgium Yataghan de la Carabine Mle 68.bayonet (Type 1). For the Model 1868 Albini Rifle, 1848/66 Terssen Rifle and the Model 1870 Comblain Carbine. This bayonet is a direct copy of the French 1866 Chassepot but has no french markings. Serial number stamped inside the groove at the back of the hilt is “3500” Measurements are OA 696mm Blade 575mm and blade width 38.4mm. In excellent condition overall with minor pepper piitting on two small areas of the scabbard. Blade is marked on the right hand ricasso “1869” and with a Crown over HD in a cartouche. Brass grips – Leaf spring secured by a screw. Several other small markings to the final and pommel including the letters “JD” to the pommel end. All metal scabbard. (Reference WW 76 and K #468)
