Description
Belgium Model 1880 (or M1888) bayonet for Model 1867 Albini and Model 1870 Comblain Short rifles. Sabre blade, fullered, with sawback with 31 double teeth. This is one of only two sawback bayonets used by Belgium. Right side of ricasso marked “1889” and “Crown over FL” in a cartouche. Hilt is brass with 17 verticle grooves with the right side of the crossguard struck with serial number V over 4446. Soligen made blade by Alexander Coppel with Belgium inspection proofs “GB” in circle which is Government Belge. Scabbard is black leather body brass top mount with loop and brass chape. The numbers to the leather are not all clear. All in very good to excellent condition. (Reference WW 78 and K #364)
