Description
BRITISH BAYONET NO. 9 MK1/L of unknown manufacture as any markings cannot be seen through the protective coating. The usual grease coating was “PX4” a mineral oil but experiments were made with “PX15” a beeswax compound as an alternative. Whilst the bayonet was wrapped in green waxed paper the entire bayonet was enclosed in a hard coating of PX15. The product however was found to be too expensive and discontinued. The Britsh indentification code at the time “B1-CR-46.A” for Bayonet No.9 was still in use and can be seen in the photographs on the wrapping. There is no scabbard.
