Description
British Pattern 1887 sword bayonet Mark II manufactured by Wilkinson Sword Company, London. The Mark II is a very scarce bayonet but this piece is even rarer in that Wilkinson at this time was contracted to make the Mark III bayonets (no fullers to the blade). War Department approval mark to ricasso (Arrow over WD) along with Wilkinson inspectors mark. Other inspection marks to the top of the blade. Checkered leather grips secured by two domed rivets with washers. The bayonet is in good condition but has areas of pitting to one side of the blade, crossguard and pommel. Out of Sale mark to pommel and to scabbard leather. Scabbard is in very good condition but has small dent/crease to locket. (Reference B&CB B206)
