Description
British Pattern 1888 Model II manufactured by Sanderson in Sheffield. Manufactured/issued October 1900 (10 ’00). Ricasso has acceptance mark, inspection mark and the bend test mark. Wood grips are secured by brass rivits and stamped “TAS” on one side and “226” on the other.
There are inspection marks stamped to the top of the blade and a “U” and a “9” to the underside of the tang.
Pattern 1903 scabbard has Enfield proof mark, acceptance mark, date of 1904 ” ’04 ” and two inspectors marks stamped in the leather. The rear of the P1903 scabbard frog/belt is stamped ” 05.8 over G13 over 12/A.I.R”, indicating G Company 12th Battalion Australian Infantary Regiment of Tasmania.
Both bayonet and scabbard in very good condition.
