Description
Egyptian Model 1876/80 yataghan sword bayonet (also known as USA Confederate 1861-1864) with curved cross guard. This bayonet is an Egyptian modification of the old Remington saber bayonet to allow for use on the Snyder conversion of the two band Enfield rifle. The blade is unmarked. “Curved Guard” and with the groves on the handle being hand machined which extend around the back of the handle through the steel blade tang. The grips are two brass grips secured to the tang by two steel pins. Scabbard is all bright steel with large elongated German style frog stud. Overall bayonet and scabbard are in good condition with no damage but show small areas of pitting and staining. (Reference Mad # 117, JN 39-2 and K Vol.4 # 971)
